Hello ! My name is Mr. Jones and I am excited to teach your child this school year ! This will be my 13th year teaching in the Minneapolis Public School District and my first year at Bryn Mawr. My twelve years of teaching experience consist of the first nine years teaching 3rd grade and last three years teaching second grade. I was a Japan Fullbright Memorial Fund fellow in 2007. I completed my undergraduate studies at the University of Minnesota and graduate work at the University of St. Thomas.
The 3rd graders in Room 277 will bring home a daily planner (that requires your signature) and homework Monday through Thursdays. Any school communications will come home in a folder on Fridays. Homework given during the week reinforces what your child learned in class. Upon the completion of their homework, your child is expected to read at home independently or with a family member for at least thirty minutes a day. Research supports daily reading practice will increase a child's reading fluency and comprehension.
My philosophy is that all students are capable of reaching their full potential, if provided the pathway to learn. A classroom with high academic standards, student accountability, classroom unity, and clear behavior expectations develops student achievement. I feel confident that if we work together as partners your child will reach his/her full potential here at Bryn Mawr.
I look forward to working with you and your child this school year ! If you ever have any questions, comments, or concerns feel free to contact me by e-mail: tron.jones@mpls.k12.mn.us, phone (612) 668 - 2500 or an immediate response contact the main office.
Sincerely,
Mr. Jones
