Our community school is located in the Bryn Mawr Neighborhood and serves a diverse group of 514 Hi-5 through 5th grade students. Our site is adjacent to beautiful Theodore Wirth Park. This location provides the opportunity for our students to explore, investigate, and gain a deeper understanding of nature and the surrounding environment.
Our school values learning, and this includes our campus facilities. Our school was built in 1996 and is designed to fit the needs of young, physically-challenged, and special needs children. Our Hi-5, Kindergarten, and 1st grade classrooms feature individual cubbies, in-class bathrooms, drinking fountains, and hand washing facilities.
We have a Media Center that features a variety of children's literature, a reading room, and a student computer lab. Our gymnasium features a full-size, well-lit, academically-enriched space. We also have an additional computer lab available for classrooms to use, plus iPad instruction for all grades.
Further, our playground has a variety of large motor equipment for balancing, climbing, sliding, and swinging activities. There is also a play area for soccer or touch football, as well as basketball hoops.
We have Specialists who teach Art, Vocal/Instrumental Music, Media/Technology, and Physical Education. We offer Hi-5, All-day Kindergarten, English as a Second Language (ESL), and on-site after-school care through Minneapolis Kids. We also offer offer academicas after-school, including language, reading and math enrichment, and GEMS and GISE.
Bryn Mawr teachers, administrators, and supporting staff are dedicated to the success of all students. We partner with the Bryn Mawr Neighborhood Association (BMNA) to meet the needs of the community. Representatives from each organization participate in each other’s monthly meetings.
