  • GEMS. Girls in Engineering, Math, and Science (GEMS) provides the opportunity for more than 20 of our 4th and 5th Grade girls to participate in this challenging curriculum related to math and science.  It involves robotic  and other challenging activities throughout the year; including rocketry, circuitry, and CO2 (carbon dioxide) cars.
  • GISE.  Guys in Science and Engineering (GISE) program offered to boys in Grades 3 through 5.  This challenging curriculum is the complement to the GEMS program.
  • ALC.  Area Learning Center academic programming offered to students who qualify.  ALC works in reading, mathematics, and problem solving.

  • We use the Catalyst Gifted & Talented Curriculum to all students in Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd Grade.  Gifted and Talented students in 3rd, 4th, and 5th Grades are involved in weekly classes.
  • Nutrition outreach program from the University of Minnesota for First through Third Grades
  • Our Family Involvement Program, Sit Together And Read Something (S.T.A.R.S.), encourages families to sit and read together.
  • We have a variety of family celebrations, including: Spaghetti Dinner and Scholastic Book Fair Night, National African American Parent Involvement Day, Hmong New Year, Family Fun Night, STAR STUDENT recognition, and 2 music concerts.
  • We were selected as one of the schools in Minnesota to receive both the Reading Excellence Award Grant and the Reading First Grant. These grants provided staff development and materials to enhance our reading program.
  • We have worked with Hands On Twin Cities (HOTC) for two years, and with different community agencies.  We have been gifted with talent and people who have helped the school maintain its high educational standards.
