Kristi Ward, Principal
My name is Kristi Ward.  This will be my 3rd year at Bryn Mawr Community School.  I am excited to be returning for another year.  For those of you that do not know, I am a wife of 18 years and a mother of 3 wonderful children (9th grade, 6th grade and 3rd grade).  When I am not at Bryn Mawr, you can find me running them around to their various activities.  In my spare time, I enjoy traveling the country with my family and spending time up north.
I received my bachelor’s degree in special education from St. Cloud State University.  While at SCSU, I completed teaching courses in order to receive my teaching license in both EBD (K-12), MMI (K-12) and Pre-Kindergarten.   After I realized that I wanted to pursue leadership,
I attended the University of St. Thomas to earn both a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Policy, with an emphasis on Global Leadership.  I then continued coursework to receive my Educational Specialist degree.  I am currently an Adjunct Professor with the University of St. Thomas in their College of Education.
A little bit about my professional career; I have worked with the Minneapolis Public Schools since 1997 as both a teacher and an administrator.   My MPS teaching career included five years as a teacher on special assignment and six years as a special education teacher.  I left teaching to pursue leadership positions within central office.  It was then that I began to see how impactful it was to serve not only students but staff as well.  During
this time I was a District Program Facilitator for citywide special education programs.  I also served as the Extended School Year Coordinator for Summer School.  In 2010, I transitioned into my first Leadership position by serving as the Education Administrator at MPS’ Metro SJ – St Joseph’s Home for Children Residential, Day Treatment and Shelter programs.
I am extremely excited for the opportunity to continue to serve as your Principal. I look forward to our continued partnership within our diverse community as we build a strong academic program in a nurturing and welcoming environment. For those of your returning, I have enjoyed getting to know you and your children, and if you are coming to Bryn Mawr as a new family, I look forward to having you join our community of
When I began this journey, I shared one of my favorite quotes by Wilma, it continues to be one of my favorites:
Never underestimate the power of dreams and the influence of the human spirit. We are all the same in this notion: The potential for greatness lives within each of us.’
I am continually blessed and honored to be a part of the Bryn Mawr community.

Have a wonderful summer!
