Thank you for visiting our web page!!!

Welcome to Second Grade at Bryn Mawr Elementary.  First grade is an exciting time in children's educational lives because we begin to see them really own their learning, and soar with success and pride.  This will be a very busy, but fun year for our fantastic first graders.

My name is Michele Fisher and the Minneapolis Public School system has been a part of my life since I was in kindergarten.  I was fortunate enough to have an experience that steered me into wanting to teach in Minneapolis and give back to my community that gave me so much.  One of my teachers (Mr. Boone) that inspired me as a child in sixth grade, also inspired me as an adult when he was our Principal at the school (Elizabeth Hall International) I was teaching at.  It is truly an amazing world we live in!  My hope and dream for this year is that I am able to help inspire our group to believe in themselves and achieve their goals.

Bryn Mawr is an incredible school, and I am so lucky to be teaching First Grade here.  I have been teaching in the Minneapolis Schools since 1997.  All of my years in Minneapolis prior to Bryn Mawr were at Elizabeth Hall International School.  I also taught from 1993-95 in Houston, Texas, but came home to be with family when my mother's health changed.   I received my Bachelors in Education from College of St. Catherine and my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of St. Thomas. Throughout the years, I have had my own classrooms in grades kindergarten, first and second, but I have taught grades third, fourth and fifth at some point as well.

I believe that every child has a gift to share with others, and throughout their years, they begin to unravel what gift it is they have to offer, and when it is fully unwrapped they are able to share it.  Some times the unwrapping takes longer than others, but it is with patience, commitment, support and perseverance, that we (child, family, educators, community) help them unwrap and discover their gift.

In my spare time, I am being the best mom that I can be to my amazing son.  I love spending time with my family and friends.  I enjoy reading, gardening and traveling.

Thank you to my students' families in advance for all of your support this school year.
