Band Opportunity

Beginning in the fourth grade, students have the opportunity to participate in the Bryn Mawr Band program. Instruments that are offered for band include; flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, baritone, and percussion. Band lessons are offered during the school day on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday at Bryn Mawr. Students are expected to come to lessons with the tools that they need for success; self discipline, persistence, instrument, music, and be ready to learn and try their best. Every effort is made to allow students their first choice of instrument. This is not always possible as the school has a limited number of each instrument type.

Band is open to all Bryn Mawr students in fourth and fifth grade. The different instruments are presented to fourth and fifth graders during their first music class of the year. Interested students are given a band participation form to take home and read over with their parent(s) or guardians. The rental fee for a school instrument is $20.00 per school year. This nominal fee is used to buy music and supplies that students will need throughout the course of the school year. The expectation at Bryn Mawr is that all participating students will pay the rental fee for school instruments. The fee can be paid in installments if it is a financial hardship to pay the entire fee at once.

School instruments need to be treated with respect by students that are using them. If a student quits attending lessons or is not in good standing they will need to return the instrument to the school. Students are also expected to return their instruments to the school at the end of the rental period. Rental fees are non-refundable.
