Hi, I'm Aaron May and welcome to my class page! I've had the pleasure of teaching at Bryn Mawr since 2007 and in Minneapolis Public Schools since 2000. Prior to Bryn Mawr I taught at Bancroft and Hiawatha. While I've taught everything from Kindergarten to 5th grade, I just love teaching first grade! In my classroom you can expect to see engaged, active learning from everyone. When there is a nurturing relationship between teacher, student, and parents, a child can make incredible growth. It is my goal to find the strengths of each and every child in my classroom to help them excel at their talents, have strong sense of community, learn self control, and enjoy learning. I use the responsive classroom model and also help children learn the value in being trustworthy, cooperative, productive, positive, determined, fair, smart, friendly, inquisitive, and peaceful.

My passion is both math and science, and I use up to date technology any way I can. Promethean boards, computers and Ipads are used to bring a motivational and visual piece to learning. Science is integrated with reading through leveled non fiction literature and by making use of Theodore Wirth Park, FOSS science kits, smart questions, the experience the students bring.

In my spare time you'd likely catch me spending time with my two wonderful kids and wife, camping, gardening, or listening to the ol' vinyl records they used to make (and still do!) You can contact me at aaron.may@mpls.k12.mn.us
